Basilica of the Agony – Church of All Nations (Garden of Gethsemane)

Basilica of the Agony– Church of All NationsThe Basilica of the Agony enshrines a large slab of rock in the Garden of Gethsemane that is believed to be where Jesus prayed on the night of his arrest. The current church stands on the foundations of a 4th century Byzantine basilica and a 12th century Crusader chapel. It was built with funding from 12 different countries, which gave it its nickname: “the Church of All Nations.” Regardless of your denomination, the gardens outside the church are a place for prayer and contemplation and a highlight of any Christian pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
