Independence Hall

Independence HallIt may not be on the same scale as that Philadelphia landmark, but the modest building on Tel Aviv’s Rothschild Boulevard was witness to the greatest event of modern Jewish history. The building started out as the home of Meir Dizengoff, the first mayor of the world’s first “Hebrew” city. Later on, it was converted into the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. When the Jewish Agency was in need of a quick solution for a location to declare to the world the establishment of the first Jewish State in 2,000 years, the museum was selected as the venue. This is a ‘must’ visit for anyone interested in the history of Zionism and the modern State of Israel.
