Josephus Flavius

Josephus Flavius(37 CE – c. 100 CE)

I’m the historian who’s provided the world with an account of what exactly happened during the Great Jewish Revolt against Rome in the first century.

But I’m also an observant Jew and loyal to my people. Nevertheless, the Jews often criticize me for my admiration of the Roman emperor Vespasian and his son Titus, the general who destroyed Jerusalem in 70 CE. Everybody seems to be familiar with my book “The Jewish War,” but I urge you to check out “Against Apion” too—you’ll see how I defend Judaism and the Jewish people. History’s given me a bad rap.
